Highlighting the rich history of Filipino cuisine

Pancit is the general term for a Filipino noodle dish. There are many types of Pancit based on the noodles and ingredients used to make it. Made popular in the Philippines over the past few centuries given how easy and convenient it is to prepare, Pancit is one of the main staples of Filipino cuisine.

For Filipinos, Pancit is more than just a delicious food—it’s a part of their culture. Symbolically, the long noodles of Pancit represent long life and good health. For that reason, it’s Filipino tradition to eat Pancit on your birthday, and Pancit is commonly served at birthday celebrations, family gatherings, and parties of all kinds. Serving Pancit is among one of the many ways Filipinos spread well-wishes of good health and happiness to those around them.

Pancit.com strives to spread that same positivity by highlighting the best Filipino foods, restaurants, food vendors, and recipes, as well as the chefs, stories, and inspirations behind them.

Meet The Owner

Andrew Arcangel

Andrew Arcangel is a Filipino-American entrepreneur, and the owner of Pancit.com. Born and raised in New York, USA, Andrew grew up eating and enjoying Pancit and other Filipino foods (like Sinigang, Kare-Kare, and Chicken Adobo) thanks to his father, a Filipino foodie who cooks Filipino meals every day.

Despite living outside of the Philippines, where the majority of his family lives (his paternal grandfather was one of 13 children), Andrew shares a close bond with them through his love of family, basketball, and Filipino food—all key components of Filipino culture.

Andrew first started Pancit.com to document the Filipino food recipes passed down in his family. Every time he asked his relatives about a recipe, they always told stories or fond childhood memories that the food reminded them of. These stories made Andrew feel even more connected with his relatives—some from past generations who he never got the chance to meet—which inspired him to build Pancit.com into something more.

Now, Andrew strives to turn Pancit.com into not only the go-to cookbook of delicious Filipino food recipes, but also into a storybook of Filipino cuisine—capturing Filipino culture, history, and family traditions of past and present generations.
